Youngkyu Sung received his B.S. summa cum laude in electrical engineering from the Seoul National University (SNU). At SNU, he worked on developing quantum devices based on nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond.

He is currently working toward his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT. His research interest is optimal control for fast and high-fidelity quantum gates.

Youngkyu Sung is a recipient of the Korea Foundation for Advanced Study (KFAS) Scholarship.
