Joel received his Ph.D. in applied physics from Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His Ph.D. research, performed at MIT under Prof. Pablo Jarillo-Herrero, focused on superconducting proximity effect in mesoscopic 2D systems. In particular, Joel studied how superconductivity is inherited in non-superconducting graphene by means of transport measurement and tunneling spectroscopy. Joined EQuS in 2017, he is now working on transmon qubits and hybrid 2D system coupled to a microwave cavity.
